The Tarradale Team
The Management team is led by Dr Eric Grant, chair and prime mover of the project.
The rest of the team is currently Anne Coombs (Vice Chair), Tim Blackie, Jonathan Wordsworth, John Wombell and James McComas (as Chair of NOSAS).
During the TTT phase (2017-2019) we appointed a number of professionals to run various parts of the project.
In 2019 Steve Birch of West Coast Archaeological Services directed the excavation of the Barrow Cemetery and he returned to direct excavations for TAT at the Mesolithic shell midden site in 2023. Many will know Steve from previous Tarradale excavations, as well as the Rosemarkie Caves Project and Cromarty Medieval Burgh. Consulting on the 2019 excavation was also Gordon Noble and the University of Aberdeen. Highland Archaeological Services and AOC Archaeology also directed digs during the project.
Lachlan McKeggie, HAS, was our Outreach Coordinator. Lachlan was familiar to many volunteers from various digs, but he had also been involved in outreach before and as a ‘local boy’ had local knowledge of the schools and clubs around Tarradale and the Black Isle.
James McComas was our IT guru and still runs the TTT website and Twitter account. Lachlan and James were appointed for the full 3 years of the project as was Alex Gallacher, our essential Admin Assistant, who dealt with the numbers.
